Gavin Parsons

Gavin is the Managing Director of the firm and holds a Diploma of Laws (LPAB) and a Diploma of Legal Practice.

 

Immediately prior to opening his own law firm in April 2014, Gavin refined his legal skills as a Senior Associate at a medium-sized law firm based in the Sydney CBD.  During these years Gavin demonstrated his unique abilities and passion for the law whilst acting for a wide range of clientele providing quality legal advice in a diverse range of legal fields.

 

Prior to commencing private practice in 2009, Gavin had a successful career with various NSW State Government agencies over a period of nine years. Gavin spent several years at the Victims Compensation Tribunal and the Office of Fair Trading and also served as Manager of the Administrative Decisions Tribunal Registry. Gavin has been practicing in and around the law for 20+ years.

 

Commercial Litigation - acting for individuals and businesses in commercial matters including trade practices, debt recovery, corporate law and commercial contracts

 

Commercial and Business Law - drafting and/or negotiating a broad range of contracts, agreements and legal documents for all sizes of companies and businesses.  Advising clients on a wide range of legal issues including corporations law, trade practices, competition and consumer laws and both state and federal legislative requirements


Employment law - acting for employers and employees. Preparing, updating and implementing workplace policies, assisting with the performance of workplace investigations to minimise liability and manage risks, dispute resolution; and litigation including appearing in the Fair Work Commission, Federal Court of Australia and the Federal Circuit Court of Australia

 

Bankruptcy and Insolvency - acting for and advising individuals and companies facing bankruptcy or insolvency. Acting for and advising Administrators and Liquidators regarding the administration or liquidation of small and medium companies including strategy, recovery, settlement, the realisation of assets and other bankruptcy and insolvency issues

 

Estate and Succession Planning - advising clients, preparing and drafting Wills, Powers of Attorney and Guardianship instruments

 

Intellectual Property - advising and acting for companies and individuals in relation to trade marks, passing off, copyright, business reputations and the enforcement of intellectual property rights.

 

Administrative Law - advising clients, preparing applications, acting for individuals and businesses and appearing in various government tribunals including Victims Compensation Tribunal, Consumer Trader and Tenancy Tribunal and Administrative Decisions Tribunal which as of January 2014 were all incorporated into the new NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal.

 

 


 

 

Dan Rappoport

Dan joined the practice in July 2016 as an accomplished and experienced solicitor. He was admitted in 2010 and went on to complete a Masters in Commercial Law in 2013 with a distinction average and subsequently became a member of the International Golden Key Honour Society.

 

Prior to working at Gavin Parsons and Associates, Dan headed his own firm Lambeth Lloyd and Associates. He has also been a consultant and employed at mid-tier and boutique firms such as Sparke Helmore Lawyers and Teddington Legal, as well as working within government agencies such as the Australian Financial Security Authority.

 

Dan's experiences include:

 

Commercial Litigation - regularly appearing in Courts across NSW, the Federal Circuit Court, Federal Court of Australia and the ACT involving a wide range of commercial litigation for: plaintiffs/ claimants, defendants/ respondents, cross-claimants, cross-defendants; third parties and applicants.

Katherine Wiltshire

Katherine joined Gavin Parsons and Associates in March 2019. She completed a Juris Doctor at the University of New South Wales in 2016 and was admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of New South Wales in 2017. Katherine completed a Bachelor of Arts (Media and Communications) with honours and a major in English Literature at the University of Sydney.

 

Prior to joining Gavin Parsons and Associates, Katherine worked at a range of boutique firms gaining experience in a variety of areas including commercial litigation, wills and estates, elder law, conveyancing, employment law and criminal law.

 

Katherine's experiences include:

Property and Conveyancing - acting for purchasers and vendors in relation to the purchase or sale of residential and commercial property, preparation of adverse possession claims, title transfers, commercial leases, review of stamp duty and first home owners' purchase entitlements.

 

Employment Law - acting for employers and employees on employment matters.

Joanna Yu

Joanna joined Gavin Parsons and Associates in March 2018. She completed a Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Laws at the University of New South Wales in 2015. Joanna was admitted as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of New South Wales in 2016.

 

Prior to joining us, Joanna worked in a boutique law firm in the Sydney CBD and held carriage of matters in a broad range of legal areas including commercial litigation, corporate law, employment law, family law, medical negligence and criminal law.

 

Joanna's experiences include:

Patrick Gallego

Patrick joined Gavin Parsons and Associates in November 2017 as a Paralegal while completing his studies in law and was admitted as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of New South Wales in October 2018. Patrick holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of New South Wales and completed his Juris Doctor at the University of Technology Sydney in 2018. Prior to joining Gavin Parsons and Associates, Patrick gained exposure to both private practice and community legal centre work, in addition to undertaking work as a research assistant concurrently with his legal studies.

 

Since joining our team, Patrick has primarily focused on commercial litigation and insolvency matters and impressed clients and colleagues alike with his extensive knowledge and competence in litigious disputes.

 

Patrick has worked on matters in the Local, District and Supreme Courts of New South Wales, the Victorian Magistrates Court, the Supreme Court of Queensland, the Federal Circuit Court of Australia, the Federal Court of Australia and in various state and federal tribunals such as the Administrative Appeals Tribunal, NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal, QLD Civil and Administrative Tribunal and the VIC Civil and Administrative Tribunal.

 

Patrick's experiences include:

 

Commercial and Business Law - drafting a range of commercial contracts, privacy policies and deeds of settlement; assisting in the sale of businesses, drafting complex instruments for the sale of shares; advising on corporate structures and asset protection.

Bankruptcy and Insolvency - assisting in the voluntary wind up of companies, preparing statutory demands, advising on the annulment of bankruptcy and litigation related to, amongst other things, unfair preferences, voidable transactions and breaches of director's duties.

 

Debt Recovery - instituting proceedings to recover debts in the Small Claims and General Divisions of the NSW Local Court.
